How to connect

Connect your bank in minutes.

Two ways in — both read-only, both leave your data encrypted on your device. In My Stash never sees your bank login and can never move your money.

Before you start: connecting a bank turns on the required 6-digit PIN — pick one you'll remember. It encrypts your data on your device; if you forget it, we can't recover it (there's no account and no backdoor — by design).

Option A — Plaid

tap & log in · at cost
  1. Open the app → Settings → Connected banks.
  2. Set Connection source to Plaid (tap & log in).
  3. Tap Connect a bank.
  4. During early access you may be asked for a Plaid Pass access code — enter it and tap Redeem. (The $2/mo pass covers Plaid's per-bank fee — we keep $0. Pricing.)
  5. Plaid's window opens: find your bank and log in with your bank's own credentials. That login goes to Plaid and your bank — never to us.
  6. Some banks (Chase, Capital One…) bounce you to their own site or app to approve, then bring you right back. That's normal.
  7. Pick which accounts to share → Done. Your balance appears immediately; transactions follow within a minute — tap Sync now on the Activity screen any time.

Option B — SimpleFIN

free from us · $1.50/mo to SimpleFIN
  1. Create an account at bridge.simplefin.org (SimpleFIN Bridge — $1.50/mo, paid to them; we add nothing on top).
  2. In the Bridge, use Connect to link your bank(s) with your bank's own login.
  3. Still in the Bridge, create a new app connection — it gives you a long setup token. Copy it.
  4. In the app: Settings → Connected banks → set Connection source to SimpleFIN (paste token) → tap Connect a bank.
  5. Paste the setup token and confirm. Your accounts and balances appear right away.
  6. Heads up: on a brand-new SimpleFIN connection, transactions can take a few hours to backfill — balances come first. Tap Sync now on the Activity screen to check; history fills in on its own.

Which should I pick?

Trouble connecting? Check the status line under "In the bank" on the Activity screen — it tells you when the last sync ran or exactly why one failed. Still stuck: email us.
